Decision of Planning Committee on 19th March.
At the special meeting of the Planning Committee on Tuesday 19 March the proposed Local Development Plan was discussed. A deputation from Juniper Green Community Council was granted the opportunity to give a statement about Curriemuirend to the Committee prior to their deliberations. Councillor Heslop asked for views on the possible road configuration and the Committee proceeded to debate the plan as a whole, including redesignating Curriemuirend from “Open Space” to “Housing”. It was decided to accept the draft Plan as a whole, although some Councillors were sympathetic to the arguments put by JGCC. When the Plan is published there will be a further 6 week consultation period, probably running from 1 May to 14 June, when people may wish to make representations about the proposed use of the Park. Those with properties adjacent to the site will be informed of this process by the City of Edinburgh Council. These representations will be further considered by the Council by the end of 2013, and will then accompany the submission of the final Plan to the Scottish Government, who will appoint a Reporter to consider the Plan. JGCC will be seeking to publish further articles in C&B News and on the JGCC website.
