A Water of Leith study
21st February 2007

On February 21st Primary Four of Juniper Green School explored the Water of Leith with their teachers Mrs Mears and Mrs Kerr and Juniper Green 300's Judy Hill and Liz Beevers. They were looking for clues about the role of the river and the railway in the history of the area.

Along the way they met a Bronze Age explorer looking for a new place to live, listened to the river for the sound of water running over a dam and identified the places where the old mills stood. They discussed what the railway would carry as it puffed over the bridge and also how electricity, when it came, lit up everything for mills, streets and homes.

The three images show the groups as they studied the Juniper Green history down by the river.
