On Saturday 19th May 2007 the Juniper Green Tennis Club in conjunction with JG300 held a junior open and 20 children from the village took part.

Well done that organiser!

Organised by Niall MacDonald (committee member) the participants exhibited a high standard of tennis.

At the finish each was presented with a medal.

Apart from one rain shower the playing took place in beautiful sunshine. The audience enjoyed the facilities at the clubhouse with lots of coffee tea and biscuits.

David Smith, Chair of the tennis club said:

'Juniper Green Tennis Club is one of the focal points of our village. It is a mutual club run by the members for the members and makes the village special.'

This tennis event is part of the celebrations in this 300th year under the JG300 banner.

Dave added "I wonder if when the village is 400 and 500 years old people will be looking back at the photographs taken at this event as we do the 100 year old photograph on the web site. www.junipertennis.org."

"Niall, Valerie and Hugh Jack have done a sterling job helping make the club a success but we would like to encourage a couple more committee members. The time commitment is no more than a few hours per year and a big opportunity to help maintain a very special facility. Gerry Coyle has done a brilliant job maintaining the web site."

Nial MacDonald organiser said "Having decided to hold an event at the Tennis Club focused on children to help celebrate JG300 we were delighted at the response. Local children of all abilities turned out to play and hopefully we will see them all over the summer months enjoying what is a really unique facility in the village."
