Launch of the History Book
One of the aims of JG300 was to improve the environment of the village. So, as part of that aim, flower tubs were introduced onto Lanark Road just before gala week. The tubs appeared thanks to donations from shopkeepers and businesses and the perseverance of Leslie Hannaford.
Baillie Paisley launched the book during the JG300 Exhibition.
The book entitled "Juniper Green 1707 - 2007 History in the Making" was written by a team of authors coordinated by Liz Beevers with co-authors Rob Melville and Judy Hill. A wonderful professional finish was given to the book by Barbara Badger combining text and graphics in a most imaginative way.
Book sales took off very quickly and almost 500 copies were sold during gala week itself.
Many of the items that had been created in this year of celebration were on display in the JG300 Exhibition during gala week.
The school had prepared their own history of the village, burnt a cd of songs written by the children and performed a concert with the river as the central theme. The school had obtained funding from the Awards for All scheme and they had been able to bring an author, a song writer and a playwright to coordinate all these activities.
Many people attending the exhibition found that entry was free but it cost them to come out as items on sale were too good to pass.
