9th September 2007

The presentation of the Tappit Hen Trophy for the Juniper green ter-centenary golf competition was made by Harry Waugh, Vice Captain of Baberton Golf Club, to Stephen Marshall, captain of the winning three man team.

The weather on Sunday 9th September 2007 was reasonable for golf. A light breeze, some sunshine and no rain prevailed as 75 golfers played at Baberton Golf Club for the Juniper Green 300 Tappit Hen Trophy. Players were selected into teams of three and each player played off full handicap. The best two stableford points were selected for the scorecard at each hole so that a team with a par round was going to finish with 72 points. But, of course, someone is generally going to beat par and so it was that the winning score was 82 points. This was achieved by Stephen Marshall, Iain Bell and Alan Docherty.

Three teams scored 80 points: T Fell, K Fell and J Sinclair; J McQuade, C Holt, and C Swan; and L Morton, R Kerr and L Reekie. Following the presentation, an excellent buffet supper was available and enjoyed by many of the players. It is hoped that this will become an annual fixture at Baberton.
