On November 17th 2007, the evening before the village's 300 year birthday, a grand ceilidh was held in Juniper Green Parish Church halls. Over one hundred people danced to the music and superb direction of the Portobello Ceilidh Band.

One of the outstanding characteristics of the band was the excellent calling that accompanied the music.

The dancers poised for action

The dances progressed with great vigour and much enjoyment. The food too was of the highest quality, served with a smile and plenty to eat for all.

Further instructions followed if the dance was a new one to the participants.

Of course, there were the usual dances like the Dashing White Sergeant, Strip the Willow and the magnificent Eightsome Reel. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all.
