Mount Pleasant: 502 Lanark Road

The house Mount Pleasant on Lanark Road thought to be the temporary residence for a short time of the writer Thomas Carlyle and his wife Jane soon after their marriage in the early part of the nineteenth century

It is a persistent rumour and the source of local oral tradition that the writer Thomas Carlyle and his wife Jane Welsh, soon after their marriage in 1826, spent some time in the house named Mount Pleasant on the Lanark Road in Juniper Green.
