Memories of Juniper Green

Woodhall Paper Mill remembered...

John Scott was the manager of Woodhall Paper Mill in the 1940s

Between 1940 - 1942 work at the mill began 6am and ran to 6pm Mondays to Thursdays, Fridays all day with night shift until 6am on Saturdays. The manager was Mr Scott.

The finishing machine was operated by Jack Wood fondly known as "Sticky". Joe McCabe looked after the large vats that held the pulp. John Corse worked the cutting machine and baled the consignment for delivery.

Some of the other workers included Tom Tucker, Lads Fisher and the Glen brothers. Bill Corse joined the Royal Navy. As the lads were called up others joined but I can't recall all their names.
