Colinton Parish Church

Our village grew in the eighteenth century in the parish of Colinton, a long established community, not wealthy at that time but based around the water of Leith, the church and Colinton Castle.

Juniper Green is first mentioned in the Colinton Parish Kirk records in November 1707 for the misdemeanours of John Johnston and Margaret Hamilton. At that time Juniper Green may have been no more than a cottage or two on the extreme western edge of Colinton parish.
