The 1910 school

As we come to the school buildings on Woodhall Terrace/ Baberton Avenue we approach the coming of age of Juniper Green. It got its own school in the 1840s thanks to the Disruption of the Kirk. Parts of the congregation of Currie joined with members from Colinton to establish the Colinton and Currie Free Kirk in 1843. These enterprising people set to to build a school for their children on this site in 1849. No longer a mere social mushroom on the fringes of Colinton and Currie, now Juniper Green could school its own weans.
