Mossie Mill

Let's turn and re-trace our steps back under the bypass bridge. On your left, in the 1990s was the rather sad sight of Mossie Mill established in 1664. By 2006 it had been replaced by some rather up-market flats. It started out as a cloth mill, then later making felt for the bonnet makers of Edinburgh and then later turned to paper-making. The basic water wheel could power all sorts of machinery.
